Wines in this range:
The grapes for this wine were sourced from Angove Family Winemakers as well as premium growers in South Australia. Soils are predominantly red sandy loam over limestone, on gently undulating east west ridges.
Vintage was moderate and early season rains in spring lead to minimal requirement for irrigation with exceptional crops being set and substantial leaf cover which would be required to ripen the fruit to perfection. This year has been great for aromatic varietal expression, especially with the fruit dominant varieties such as Moscato. The harvest period was longer than usual resulting in a relatively late harvest starting in March.
Harvested during the cool light of dawn to ensure no loss of flavour intensity, the fruit was then transported to the winery and pressed using modern membrane tank presses. After settling the cold clear juice was carefully racked and inoculated with selected yeasts. Slow, controlled fermentation was followed by minimal handling filtration and bottling at the Angove Estate.
Crisp and fresh bursting with grapey flavours this light delightfully sweet aromatic wine is made to drink soon after bottling. This wine is made for drinking whilst young and fresh and is the perfect match to Asian cuisine.
Geelong Advertiser - Brett Smith - 02.05.13
"Clean ripe aromas of tropical fruit prepare the senses for the sweetness on the palate. A gentle sherbet fizz leads into an overpowering sweetness that fills the mouth and lingers. The sweetness does dominate at the expense of complexity, but it would pair well with either a meal that complements it or opposes it, such as Thai dishes."
Newcastle Herald - John Lewis - 21.09.13
"It is green-tinted pale straw and with no stated varietal make-up. It is screwcapped and has mild effervescence. It has passionfruit scents and has grapey flavour on the front of the palate. Gooseberry and orange zest characters feature on the middle palate and lollipop sweetness holds sway at the finish."
