Led by the multi-award winning Grenache Shiraz Rosé, now regarded as a benchmark for the style, Nine Vines offers a wide array of eclectic varietals and blends with a modern, cutting edge style. From the robust, ripe Shiraz Viognier to the elegant Pinot Grigio and crowd pleasing Moscato, there is sure to be a wine for you and your friends. In the Nine Vines range we have endeavoured to capture and preserve the vibrant fruit flavours in the grapes and present them in the wines.
Wines in this range:
The grapes for this wine were sourced from Angove Estate Vineyards as well as premium growers across South Australia.
The Vintage was "almost perfect" with good spring rains followed by mild summer conditions. Great for the lifted aromatic varietal expression one expects with the fruit dominant wines such as this rosé. Longer than usual maturation resulted in a relatively late harvest starting in March.
A relatively calm harvest occurred during the cool nights of early March. The parcels were kept separate and crushed into rotary fermenters where they were cooled to 10c. After about 24hrs on skins they were gently pressed and clarified. Inoculation with yeast specially selected to enhance the fruit flavours followed and the juice was cool fermented until almost dry. The wine was then stabilised, blended and clarified before bottling in Angove Family Winemakers quality accredited bottling facility.
Bright Pink this wine stands for Australian sunshine, and warm days by the beach. Vibrant raspberry and cherry aromas combine with fresh fruit salad and lovely crispness on the palate. A dry finish lends the wine to food, matching any grilled fish or meat and the juiciest tomato basil and mozzarella salad, dressed with balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil.
Geelong Advertiser - Brett Smith - 06.03.14
"A vibrant and inviting strawberry colour in the glass and there are sweet aromas of raspberry and strawberry. Even though it has a dessert wine appearance and smell, it’s refreshingly light on the palate and while initially sweet, it’s much drier than I anticipated. Nice zesty fruit qualities from the grenache and subtle spice from the shiraz add to the complexity Red wine drinkers not looking for a heavy red in summer would find this an interesting experience."
Daily Telegraph - Tony Love - 12.10.13
"Just voted best in class at the Riverland Wine Show, this regular goodtime, top-value pinky has all the right moves, a smart style though eschewing the pale colour trendies, working a shiraz and grenache blend that rocks with its zesty, crunchy red-fruit bite, sweetness and zing in tantalising palate balance that adds a spice lift for good food mateship."
Sydney Morning Herald - Huon Hooke - ‘Best Rose’ - 10.12.13
"Angove’s rose is consistent in style and quality. It has a deep, bright purple-pink colour with intense, bright raspberry aromas. The palate is full and ample, not subtle, but loaded with fruit, a tinge of sweetness, some alcohol warmth and tannin grip. Lots of bang for your buck."
Mount Barker Courier - 02.10.13
"The Angove Nine Vines Rose 2013 is a zesty youngster. A blend of grenache and shiraz, it is from grapes picked early to obtain natural fruit flavours and freshness. Juicy raspberry and redcurrant from the grenache and red cherry and spice from the shiraz combine for a rewarding drink."
