Winemaking:

The grapes for this wine were sourced from Angove Estate Vineyards as well as premium growers across South Australia.

The Vintage was "almost perfect" with good spring rains followed by mild summer conditions and a rainburst in mid February that refreshed the vines. Great for the lifted aromatic varietal expression one expects with the fruit dominant wines such as this rosé.  Longer than usual maturation resulted in a relatively late harvest starting in March.

A relatively calm harvest occurred during the cool nights of early March.  The parcels were kept separate and crushed into rotary fermenters where they were cooled to 10c. After about 24hrs on skins they were gently pressed and clarified.  Innoculation with yeast specially selected to enhance the fruit flavours followed and the juice was cool fermented until almost dry. The wine was then stabilised, blended and clarified before bottling in Angove Family Winemakers quality accredited bottling facility.

Winemakers' Notes:

Pale salmon pink this wine stands for Australian sunshine, and warm days  by the beach. Vibrant raspberry and cherry aromas combine with fresh fruit salad and lovely crispness on the palate.

Adelaide Advertiser "Top 100 Wines" - Tony Love - 19.07.14

4 Stars

“In flash new labelling, this pinky is a regular crowd pleaser while still well respected for its shiraz and grenache core values. This latest outing shows lovely spiced red cherry notes, fresh and zesty energy in the mouth, and genuine fuller flavoured varietal appeal in the finish for more serious dining moments.”

Sunday Examiner - 15.06.14

"One of the first releases from the 2014 vintage, this old favourite has a new-look label but remains one of the best-value roses on the market.  It has been call the red wine drinker’s rose because it is made from a blend of grenache and shiraz and has a certain amount of oomph, but really it is a wine with widespread appeal with its fresh, lively red fruit notes and hints of spice.  A very refreshing drink when served chilled - and versatile with food, too."

The Age - Ralph Kyte-Powell - 08.07.14

"The traditional South Australian grenache-based rose style is a very agreeable drop.  Blended with some shiraz, this example offers red-fruit aromas of fruity freshness, a soft, easy palate that flirts with a hint of sweetness, and a dry finish."
