Angove Family Winemakers Premium Vintage Fortified Shiraz has been crafted in the traditional manner from carefully selected Shiraz grapes grown on the company’s estate vineyard. The skilful addition of our own St Agnes brandy spirit during fermentation has enabled the rich fruit character of the ripe Shiraz grapes to be retained. The end result is a superbly rich, full bodied wine with luscious fruit characters on the nose and palate.

This Rare Tawny has an average age of 15 years with much of the wine being significantly older than this and the oldest parcel being sourced from the 1971 Vintage. In assembling this blend we have looked to encompass an aged rancio complexity with copious mixed spice characters derived from storing in our winery on the top barrel stacks where the temperature is signifi cantly warmer. A large proportion of the wine is crafted from Frontignan (27%) and Grenache (23%) with the balance being a combination of Palomino, Trebbianno and Gordo giving this wine has a lifted floral note on the long well balanced palate.
Aged in old brandy hogsheads some of which were first filled when we had a functioning winery at the Original Tea Tree Gully Cellars and fortified using both neutral grape spirit and premium brandy spirit the barrels in the solera were topped from Vintage fortified material when required.
