John’s son Richard studied business and winemaking at Adelaide University, and after completing his winemaking degree left South Australia working vintages in many wineries around the world as a “flying winemaker” for eight years. In 2007 Richard was the top student at the Australian Wine Research Institute’s Advanced Wine assessment course and since then has judged at the Adelaide Wine Show, Victorian Wine Show and the Great Australian Shiraz Challenge. Richard returned to SA and joined the family business in 2008, overseeing the family’s McLaren Vale interests and being involved in Sales, Marketing and Winemaking activities. Richard is passionate about growing grapes organically, organic wine and sustainability. Richard became joint Managing Director with his sister Victoria in 2017.
