Thomas ‘Skipper’ Carlyon Angove
The son of the founder, who, despite two World Wars, saw the business develop from a small hobby enterprise to a multi-regional wine business. Skipper produced a diverse range of fine wines for local and export markets. It was his initiative to establish a new winery in Renmark, in 1910; it was the first winery in the Riverland. He cemented Angove Family Winemakers as a major player in the Australian wine scene producing fine still and fortified wines as well as establishing the St Agnes Distillery and one of Australia’s most iconic spirits, St Agnes Brandy.
